Unconventional Oil & Gas Pay Zones

Baker Hughes provides a full suite of Pay Zone Management Solutions to safely and efficiently produce from unconventional oil and gas pay zones.

Our complete package starts with an analysis of your reservoir, a review of offset well data, and the development of a comprehensive plan. Baker Hughes’ full range of unconventional pay zone solutions includes technology and services for drilling, formation evaluation, wellbore construction, completion, fracture stimulation, and water management.

Completion systems for Unconventional Pay Zones

Baker Hughes has a variety of completion alternatives to match unconventional reservoir conditions and to complement hydraulic fracturing operations.

Plug and Perf Options

Baker Hughes frac and bridge plugs and perforating services enable “plug and perf” hydraulic fracturing operations. Our QUIK Drill™ composite frac and bridge plugs isolate zones reliably while providing optimal drill-out/mill-out performance. Baker Hughes perforating services include a wide range of gun sizes, shot density, and shot phasing options to match specific completion requirements. And our custom-built wireline units ensure efficient plug setting and perforation during the hydraulic fracturing operation.

Once hydraulic fracturing is complete, the bridge plugs are removed using our through-tubing intervention services which can include coiled tubing units, METAL MUNCHER™ Advanced Milling Technology, and other exclusive intervention services.

Multistage Sleeve Completion Systems

Baker Hughes provides a variety of multistage sleeve completion systems that enable fracturing of 40 stages or more in a single pumping operation.

FracPoint System

Our FracPoint™ ball-activated system has improved operational efficiency during hydraulic fracturing on hundreds of wells. The system includes reactive element packers to effectively isolate each zone, and ball actuated sleeves to enable fracturing.

Multistage hydraulic fracturing operations take place in a single pumping operation. Several recent innovations have made the FracPoint system even more valuable:

• Our patented IN-Tallic™ frac balls with controlled electrolytic metallics (CEM) technology disintegrate to remove potential flow obstructions.

• FracPoint cemented sleeves provide a ball-activated multistage sleeve system that uses cement to isolate in place of packers.

The OptiPort System

The OptiPort™ multistage fracturing system is a coiled tubing-activated system that enables a nearly unlimited number of stimulations and provides full bore access without milling, for unobstructed production. Compatible with open hole or cemented completions, the OptiPort system enables operators to perform smaller frac jobs that require less horsepower and use less water than “plug and perf” fracturing operations.
