Our products, services and workflows continually improve the economics of constructing wells; accelerate and assure production; and drive higher ultimate hydrocarbon recovery in conventional, unconventional, deepwater, and mature-field markets.

Our Products and Technology group continually designs, develops, and offers new products and services to our customers. These are built on research and development, product application, data interpretation, and consultancy. Our products range from drill bits and drilling systems to downstream chemicals, and from pressure pumping equipment to materials like specialty polymers.

Who is eligible?

If you have or expect to complete a 4-year degree, Master’s or PhD in engineering or an engineering-related subject, geology or geosciences, mathematics, or a science such as chemistry or physics, Baker Hughes could be the perfect choice.

We seek people to go directly into our Products and Technology group who have a passion for technology, who want to work hard to apply their knowledge and to build a career in an engineering or scientific field.

What will I do?

Specifically, you are likely to become involved in one of these areas:

  • Molecular science
    Modeling and designing at microstructural, molecular, atomic, and nuclear scales, with research activities focused on performance-enhancing designer and smart materials.
  • Virtualization and automation
    Networking of physical objects, data visualization and analytics, embedding intelligence in downhole tools, real-time modeling, and automation and autocorrecting systems.
  • Subsurface intelligence
    To understand the reservoir, forecast production, reduce costs, and mitigate risks throughout the hydrocarbon lifecycle.
  • Water and environmental science
    For sustainable development of energy resources.
  • Advanced manufacturing technologies
    From additive manufacturing and application of specific integrated circuits to in-situ, downhole fabrication of components and nano-manufacturing methods.

Artificial Lift Systems Ramp Program

We offer two distinct routes for graduates in this area – a 2.5-year Leadership program, or a 1- year Technical fast-track program.

  • A 4-year undergraduate or higher degree in:
    • Electrical engineering
    • Mechanical engineering
    • Industrial engineering
    • Business administration

You will also need to be globally mobile and willing to relocate including to locations across the United States.

How will I benefit?

Our goal is to provide you a well-balanced, challenging, and practical experience within the Artificial Lift business and to develop your functional and leadership skills.

You will experience all aspects of our business in a structured 18-month program. You will gain hands-on experience with our products and processes, as well as greater understanding of the financial and human elements that make our business successful.

What will I do?

In this 18-month program, you will spend the first 12 months in a series of rotational assignments focused on gaining a strong foundation and breadth of knowledge in every aspect of the business.

Upon successful completion of the rotations, you will be assigned a challenging 6-month project where you can utilize learnings from the first 12 months, continue you development, and make a measurable impact on the business.

Your first 12-months will be comprised of rotations in the following areas:

  • Markets
  • Product Development
  • Manufacturing and Quality
  • Supply Chain
  • Assembly, Maintenance & Overhaul (AMO)
  • Field Service and Reliability
  • Sales
  • Technical Support

The program is underpinned by a strong Health Safety & Environment focus.

The Ramp program is governed by a program committee which includes the Executive Sponsor, HR Lead, Curriculum Competency Manager, and Ramp Program Manager.

The Program Manager will ensure that you are assigned to work with subject matter experts. In addition, you will be assigned a mentor who will provide coaching designed to help you successfully integrate into the company and connect with the organization.

During the program, your learning will be enhanced through hands-on, task-oriented experience. Your development and progress will be assessed periodically for continuation with the program.

Downstream Chemicals Account Representatives

Who is eligible?

If you have or expect to complete a 4-year degree in engineering, chemistry or physics, this role could be the perfect choice.

You must be willing to relocate across the United States and spend up to 90% of your time in the field.

What will I do?

  • Rigorously apply Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards in all situations using BHI systems and procedures in service of maintaining and further developing the safety culture
  • Manage existing refinery process chemical business for a specified geographic area
  • Identify and close new sales growth opportunities
  • Interface across the internal organization
  • Builds strong relationships with key customers
  • Collect, analyze and report field samples
  • Help troubleshoot any unexpected process problems and provide solutions
  • Keeping track of all inventories and placing orders when necessary
  • Completing all training assignments to the required standards.

What is Baker Hughes looking for?

Individuals with a technical background coupled with a strong desire to identify and meet customer needs. You must be enthusiastic about building strong customer relationships, as well as eager to work hands-on collecting and analyzing field samples. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills and a strong ability to recognize areas for improvement and provide creative solutions.
