Hydraulic Fracturing Chemical Disclosure Policy
Baker Hughes is committed to operating in a transparent and responsible way and to growing in partnership with our customers, suppliers, and other key stakeholders in building public trust about hydraulic fracturing operations.
As part of our ongoing commitment, we have adopted a new policy with respect to the information that we provide about the chemistry contained within our hydraulic fracturing fluid systems. Beginning October 1, 2014, Baker Hughes will provide a complete, detailed, and public listing of all chemical constituents for all wells that the company fractures using its hydraulic fracturing fluid products.
This policy is designed to increase public understanding about our products, protect proprietary formulations, and advance commercial innovation, all of which are critical factors in our focus on ever more effective, efficient and sustainable hydraulic fracturing chemistry.
Baker Hughes’ policy is fully compatible with the online national hydraulic fracturing chemical registry known as FracFocus, and all our disclosure forms can be found at www.fracfocus.org. Baker Hughes remains a strong supporter of FracFocus and the various organizations and regulatory bodies that came together to help create it. Our submissions will also continue to meet (and, in many cases, exceed) all federal and state laws governing the disclosure of the chemical constituents used in the fracturing process.
